Two weeks of healing

Aftercare

You paid for it, now don't ruin it.

Healing is two weeks of small, boring decisions, and this page walks you through all of them. When in doubt, message me before you improvise.

Path A

If you left wrapped in cling film

  1. 01Take the wrap off within 2–6 hours. Wash your hands properly first.
  2. 02In the shower, wash it with warm water and a mild soap until it stops feeling slimy. It might sting a little. Sorry.
  3. 03Pat it dry with paper towel. Not your bathroom towel.
  4. 04Once it's fully dry, let it breathe overnight. No cream for the first 24 hours.
  5. 05Next morning, wash again, then a thin layer of aftercare cream. Thin means thin: it needs to breathe.
  6. 06Wash and cream twice a day, morning and night, until healed.

Path B

If you left with second skin

  1. 01Leave it on for up to 4–5 days. It may fill with fluid. That's plasma doing its job, not horror-film slime. It's supposed to look a little gross.
  2. 02If it starts leaking, it's no longer sterile. Take it off and switch to the cling film routine.
  3. 03Remove it at the end of a hot shower, peeling slowly from a corner. A perfect print of your tattoo on the inside is dried residue, not your tattoo leaving your body.
  4. 04After removal: wash, dry with paper towel, thin layer of cream twice a day until healed.

Both paths

The rules

No soaking
No swimming, baths or saunas for two weeks. Showers are fine.
No sun
Keep it out of the sun completely while it heals. SPF forever after.
No friction
Loose clothes over it, and no gym friction on the area for 3–5 days.
No pet hair
If you see any on your fresh tattoo, wash it off straight away.
No picking
It will scab and it will itch. Don't pick, don't scratch, or you may damage the tattoo.

Red streaks, growing heat or swelling, or anything oozing days after your session: that's not a vibe, that's possibly an infection. Send me a photo straight away so I can advise you on what to do next.
